recently we came up with an idea of creating a form for data collecting purposes. It was only after a relatively long time when we finished with it.
At first, it seemed like it was an easy task, we thought that it’s not a big thing to create a form. That’s why we tried to complete it as efficiently as we could, so we’ve asked only a few, but straightforward questions that could be answered very diversely.
The plan was to obtain the biggest possible amount of data per question, so that we can later separate them, change the synonyms to a given keyword, take the summary of the collected data and finally, get to a conclusion.
Furthermore, we wanted the target audience (the high-schoolers) to feel that it is some kind of a formal and helpful form in order to avoid writing comic and/or unreal answers, which in the end, will be useful for them.
We just finished when someone pointed out, that our questions are not as optimal for data analyzation as we first thought, because of the respondents’ own, diverse vocabulary and the lot of synonyms they use. He suggested that we should analyze data from yes-no questions or answers picked from a pre-made list. On the other hand, making a list would not let the asnwers to be that widely ranged.
It was also a question whether we need the kind of questions that give us no direct information, just (according to some of us) have a psychological effect on the respondents.
As you can see, we have conflicts too. It happens obligately because of the fact that groups are bigger than one person. The act of not-aggreeing cannot cause war and offendedness amongst us, as long as the debate is moderated. That is why we agreed to host a debate on the subject and also ask the opinion of the audience, the readers, and you too.
